Mrs. Esmeralda Fernandez

Art Teacher

Experience in Education: I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Woman’s University with certifications in Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language. Since 2008, I have proudly served in Plano ISD as an elementary educator, teaching various grade levels and subject areas. I am passionate about teaching art and feel honored to work in such a diverse and multilingual district.

Background: I am a first-generation Mexican-American, born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Plano, Texas.  As a product of Plano ISD myself, I graduated from Plano East Senior High School in 2005—Go Panthers!  It’s a joy to give back to the community that helped shape me.

Interests: I’m a proud mom of four amazing children and one furry companion. Outside the classroom, our family life is full of energy—our evenings and weekends are packed with baseball, basketball and soccer games. In my free time, I love learning about different artists and exploring various artistic mediums—photography is my favorite. We also enjoy traveling, discovering new foods, reading, and cozy movie nights at home.

“Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up” – Pablo Picasso
