Ms. Lisa Garner
Instructional Specialist
Experience In Education: I have been teaching for Plano ISD since 1993. I began my teaching career at Bethany Elementary (5 years), followed by Wyatt Elementary (7 years) before I landed at Martha Hunt Elementary in 2005.
Background: Teaching is truly my calling, and I can’t imagine a more rewarding profession than sparking curiosity and a love of learning in young minds. I earned my BSW from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, and later completed my Reading Specialization Certification and K–8 Education Generalization at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. I was fortunate to learn from professors who modeled the dedication and commitment this profession requires.
As the saying goes, “If you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” That’s exactly how I feel about teaching and supporting the students and staff here at Hunt Elementary. As a Student Support Liaison, my goal remains to provide a strong Multi-Tiered Support System for students who need additional help beyond the classroom, while also serving as an advocate and guide for teachers in my role as an instructional coach.
Over the years, I have been honored to receive several awards, including Beginning Teacher of the Year at Bethany Elementary, Teacher of the Year at both Bethany and Hunt Elementary, PTA Lifetime Membership at Wyatt and Hunt Elementary, and the Outstanding Educator Award from the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas.
I’m excited and looking forward to an another amazing school year ahead at Hunt Elementary!
Interest: Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, visiting museums, traveling, and meeting new people.
“Kind hearts and curious minds can change the world.” — Margaret Mead
